Bed Bug Treatment for East Los Angeles Apartments, Duplexes and Homes

In East LA, bed bugs usually arrive with a used couch, a visitor's bag or a new tenant, then work along shared walls. We confirm the infestation, map which rooms and units are involved and give tenants and owners one plan to follow.

Two out of three East LA households rent, and about one in four homes is in a building with two or more units β€” the setting where one unit's bed bugs most easily become a neighbor's.

Duplexes, courts and the wall you share

The Census counts about 4,600 East LA homes in buildings of two to four units, another 3,500 in buildings of five or more, and about 5,700 attached homes. In those buildings, bed bugs can move through outlet boxes, gaps along pipes and baseboards, and on belongings carried through shared hallways and laundry areas.

That is why we treat a bed bug call in a multi-unit building as a building question. We start in the unit where bites or bugs were found, then recommend which neighboring units should be checked β€” usually the ones on either side and directly above or below.

Getting tenants and owners on the same page

About 66.5% of East LA households rent, and the average household has 3.6 people, which often means several beds, a couch that doubles as a bed and a lot of clothing to prepare. Treatment goes faster when the person living in the unit and the person who owns the building both know what was found and what comes next.

With the tenant's permission, we send written findings to the property owner or manager and help coordinate access to neighboring units. If a rental problem is not being addressed, LA County Environmental Health (888-700-9995) is the agency that inspects rental housing in unincorporated East LA.

Preparation explained in Spanish, step by step

Roughly 81% of residents speak Spanish at home, and about 39,000 speak English less than very well. Bed bug prep is detailed β€” bagging clothes, running them through a hot dryer, clearing the floor under beds, emptying nightstands β€” so our technicians go over it in person and leave a written checklist in Spanish or English.

Depending on the inspection, we use a residual chemical treatment, a fungal (biological) product that keeps affecting bed bugs that cross it, or both. Most infestations need follow-up visits to catch bugs that hatch after the first treatment; those are separate paid visits, and we explain how many we expect before you decide.
