Cockroach Exterminator for East Los Angeles Homes and Kitchens

German cockroaches spread fastest where kitchens sit back to back and the plumbing is decades old, which describes much of East LA. We bait where they breed, stop the next generation with a growth regulator and track results with monitoring traps.

The median East LA home was built in 1950, and about a quarter of homes are in buildings with two or more units — so solving one kitchen often means checking the one on the other side of the wall.

Back-to-back kitchens and 1950s plumbing

Half of East LA's housing dates to 1950 or earlier, and thousands of homes are duplexes, fourplexes and small apartment buildings. In those buildings, kitchens and bathrooms are often stacked or set back to back so they can share plumbing, and the pipe openings behind sinks, stoves and toilets are rarely sealed tightly after decades of repairs.

German cockroaches live in exactly those warm, damp voids. A few roaches in one kitchen can be fed by a population in the wall or the unit next door, which is why we inspect along the shared plumbing and recommend sealing the openings once the bait has done its work.

Restaurants and markets along Whittier Blvd

LA County Public Health closed a food market on Whittier Blvd for vermin infestation from September 30 to October 6, 2025, and a restaurant on E. Whittier Blvd on September 15, 2026. The county's reports use the term vermin, which covers insects as well as rodents, and they don't say which pest was involved.

For food businesses, our cockroach service works around opening hours, concentrates on dish areas, prep lines, drains, motor housings and dry storage, uses products labeled for food-handling areas and comes with written records of each visit.

Busy households, shared buildings, one plan

East LA households average 3.6 people, and 66.5% rent. A busy kitchen with plenty of cooking, grocery bags and cardboard boxes gives roaches food and hiding places, and in rentals the owner controls the repairs that keep them out. We give tenants a prep list in Spanish or English and give owners a written summary of which units and gaps need attention.

If a cockroach problem in a rental isn't being addressed, LA County Environmental Health (888-700-9995) is the agency that inspects rental housing in unincorporated East LA.

How we handle cockroach treatment in East Los Angeles

1. Monitor and identify

Glue monitors and a kitchen-and-bath inspection show which species you have and where the population is concentrated.

  • Monitoring traps placed
  • Behind fridge and stove
  • Under-sink and bathroom voids
  • Adjoining units when possible

2. Bait and break the cycle

Gel bait placed in the cracks where roaches feed and an insect growth regulator so the next generation cannot reproduce.

  • Targeted gel bait placements
  • Growth regulator to stop reproduction
  • Drain and plumbing-void attention
  • Placements out of reach of children and pets

3. Re-check and seal

A return visit reads the monitors, re-baits active spots and points out the plumbing gaps to close.

  • Monitor counts compared
  • Re-baiting where needed
  • Sealing list for owner or manager
  • Visit records for food businesses
