Cockroach Exterminator for Rowland Heights Kitchens

German cockroaches are a common problem in commercial kitchens and in older home kitchens alike. Whether yours is a busy restaurant line on Colima Road or a 1970s kitchen at home, we find where they breed, treat with gel bait and an insect growth regulator, and keep checking until activity stops.

In September 2026 alone, LA County closed two Rowland Heights food businesses for vermin β€” one on the 18400 block of E. Colima Road and one on Labin Court.

A timeline of vermin closures in Rowland Heights

County records and news reports based on county data confirm six Rowland Heights food businesses closed for vermin since early 2025: March 2025 on the 1300 block of S. Fullerton Road; April 2025, two in the same shopping center on the 18400 block of Colima Road; May 2025 on the 18100 block of Colima Road; and September 2026 on the 18400 block of E. Colima Road and on Labin Court.

The county's vermin category covers both rodents and insects such as cockroaches and flies, and these reports don't say which was found. German cockroaches are one of the most likely culprits in commercial kitchens because they breed quickly in warm, wet equipment. Of the closures with a published reopening date, most reopened within about a week once the problem was corrected.

Why plaza kitchens share cockroach problems

Many Rowland Heights restaurants sit side by side in plaza buildings. Shared walls, plumbing chases, grease lines and ceiling voids likely let cockroaches move between units, and cardboard from deliveries can bring new ones in. A restaurant that treats on its own while the unit next door doesn't will probably keep seeing them.

For commercial accounts we schedule service before opening or after closing, use products whose labels allow use in food-service areas, and focus bait and growth regulator on motor housings, wall-and-floor junctions, under prep tables and around floor drains. We also point out sanitation and sealing fixes. Sanitation matters on its own: the September 2026 county report listed a third Rowland Heights market that was closed for lacking a way to clean and sanitize, not for pests.

Cockroaches in Rowland Heights homes and apartments

At home, half of Rowland Heights homes were built in 1976 or earlier, and many kitchens and bathrooms have had plumbing replaced over the years without the wall openings behind sinks and toilets being closed. German cockroaches use those voids as warm, protected harborage.

In the roughly 1,060 apartments in buildings of 50 or more units, cockroaches can also travel between units along plumbing lines. Large reddish cockroaches that appear near floor drains, garages and cleanouts are a different species β€” usually American cockroaches coming up from sewer lines β€” and need drain and perimeter treatment rather than kitchen baiting alone.

How we handle cockroach treatment in Rowland Heights

1. Monitor and map

Sticky monitors and a close inspection show which species you have and where the population is concentrated.

  • Kitchen, storage and restroom check
  • Drain and equipment inspection
  • Monitor placement
  • Hot-spot map and written findings

2. Bait plus growth regulator

Gel bait goes into the cracks and voids where cockroaches hide, and an insect growth regulator stops young roaches from maturing and breeding.

  • Gel bait in cracks and voids
  • IGR to break the breeding cycle
  • Drain treatment for sewer species
  • Placements out of children's and pets' reach

3. Re-inspect and report

Return visits check the monitors, re-bait where activity remains and list the gaps worth sealing.

  • Monitor counts compared visit to visit
  • Fresh bait where roaches still feed
  • Sealing and sanitation notes
  • Dated service reports for businesses
